Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based Christian Education program, runs September-June

Our church school program for children ages 3 through 11 is based on the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) to  http://www.cgsusa.org/default.aspx program. CGS starts at 10 am most Sundays (September through June) immediately before the 10:15 service.  You can download an enrollment form here Registration Form or pick one up at St. Paul’s downstairs in the Atria.

At each of the levels of CGS children are drawn into the aspects of Christian faith that correspond to their developmental needs at that time:

Level I: Children ages 3 to kindergarten  Young children are sensitive to the need for protection – our core message is the love and care of the Good Shepherd.

Level II : Children ages 6-9 (grades 1st to 3rd)  Our work with this age group focuses on moral issues – our work focuses on moral parables including the True Vine, The Found Coin and The Forgiving Father.

Level III: Children ages 9-11 (grades 4th and 5th) Older children are sensitive to heroism and able to see a larger historical context – our work focuses on the plan of God and stories of Abraham, Moses, Noah and other Hebrew scriptures.

Beautiful visual and tactile materials are a highlight of the program and we integrate music, theatre, and fun activities into all of our levels.
